Aromatic Blend for Gluhwein or Mulled Wine
Origin: Germany
A strong aromatic mixture with dried apple, cinnamon, clove, star anise, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, rosemary, sage, gooseberry and vanillin to make the most successful and christmasy Mulled Wine.
Contains aromatic substances.
Which Wine to choose?
Choose dry red wine. The wine you buy does not have to be expensive. Just make sure the variety you use is not too dry and stiff (does not contain a lot of tannins). An ideal variety of dry red wine to make the perfect gluhwein, is Merlot which has caramel aromas with notes of vanilla and cherry.
How to make Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
1 cheap bottle of wine 750ml
2-3 tablespoons Aromatic Mixture for Mulled Wine
1/2 cup granulated sugar (or honey)
3/4 cup water
1 orange cut in half (the orange is optional as the mixture already contains dried orange)
Preparation process:
In a saucepan, add water, sugar, spices and orange. That is, all ingredients except wine. Place the pot on the fire and let it boil vigorously for 1-2 minutes (as if making syrup). After the boiling time has passed, add the wine and wait until it heats up. We do not want the wine to boil, only to warm it up. Finally, remove from the heat, strain it and serve in cups. We can decorate the mugs with a star anise or a cinnamon stick for an even more impressive result!
