Cichorium intybus
Country of Origin: Greece
Chicory is used to fight intestinal and digestive problems including gastroesophageal reflux, indigestion and heartburn. Inulin contained in chicory helps to normalize bowel movements while it stimulates secretion of gastric fluids. This facilitates the digestion process and reduces constipation to a large extent.
Chicory is traditionally used to treat arthritis. The anti-inflammatory properties of the herb reduce the pain and inflammation of the joints in cases of osteoarthritis.
Thanks to its diuretic properties, chicory eliminates the presence of toxins in the liver and kidneys. Frequent urination fights fluid retention and helps eliminate toxins and fat that is stored in the body.
CAUTION! Chicory should be avoided during pregnancy
