Calendula officinalis
Country of Origin: Egypt
Marigold has excellent healing properties when used on cuts, wounds, bruises and insect bites. It has anti-inflammatory action and speeds up the process of wound healing. It keeps the wound clean and protects it against infections.
Calendula has antibacterial properties and is found in many oral hygiene products (eg toothpaste). It fights the bacteria of the mouth responsible for gingivitis and bad odour.
In addition to its healing action, marigold is used to improve the appearance of the skin. It regulates the flow of blood and oxygen to the cells of the body and provides antioxidant protection which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and aging signs.
The antioxidant action of marigold significantly improves vision. In particular, β-carotene present in this herb prevents the development of cataract and prevents macular degeneration.
Marigold has anticonvulsant properties and relieves people suffering from disorders of the nervous system, painful cramps due to the period, and various other spasmodic conditions.
CAUTION! Marigold should be avoided during pregnancy
